According to Reuters, after the incident of the new site, the import of Chinese salmon gradually recovered.
The Norwegian Seafood Agency (NSC) said that Norway exported 119 tons of chilled salmon to China in the first week of July, a 76% decrease from the same period last year, but an increase of 58 tons from the previous week. (On week 25, Norway only exports 15 tons of salmon to China)
Last month, the new crest virus was detected on the salmon board in the Xinfadi market in Beijing. Many Chinese buyers suspended salmon imports and the supermarket salmon were removed from the shelves. Subsequently, Chinese and Norwegian officials concluded that imported salmon was not a source of infection.
Regin Jacobsen, CEO of Bakkafrost in the Faroe Islands of Denmark, told Reuters, "Salmon exports to China are recovering, but Beijing is still closed."
Another salmon producer said that although exports to the Chinese market have resumed, sales growth has not been as fast as during the epidemic.
Norwegian Seafood Council analyst Paul Aandahl told Reuters, “China’s sales have started to rise again, the same trend we saw in February. Last time, after the embargo blocked the export to China, it took about eight weeks to return to normal levels."
